Comedian Dave Chappelle said during a recent interview with podcaster Joe Rogan that soon no one will be “woke enough” for “Saturday Night Live.”
The conversation arose as the two men were talking about SpaceX and Tesla entrepreneur Elon Musk’s appearance on the late-night NBC show.
Musk faced immediate backlash from many on the left over his opposition to COVID-19 restrictions. In April of last year, he called stay-at-home orders “fascist,” slamming the government for “forcibly imprisoning people in their homes against all their constitutional rights.”

He went on to say the draconian restrictions in place were “not freedom.”
“No one is woke enough,” Rogan said. “They can’t appreciate the fact that you’re dealing with literally one of the most brilliant men that’s ever lived that’s gonna come do your show.”
Chappelle agreed with Rogan.
“Like you say,” he replied, “no one can be woke enough. [Y]ou’re not gonna nag people into behaving in a way that’s — in fact, if you continue with this tone, even if you’re right, you’ll be very hard to hear.”

The 47-year-old comedian described Musk as “incredibly kind.”
Chappelle said he joked with the billionaire CEO “about being the richest man in the world,” recalling Musk “took it with good humor.”
