In a video posted to his social media over the weekend, Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) argued “no one should follow” the latest “anti-science” mask guidance from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
His comments Sunday echo his editorial published in Fox News last week.

Paul said it’s “time for us to resist” because “they can’t arrest all of us.”
“They can’t keep all of your kids home from school,” the senator said. “They can’t keep every government building closed, although I’ve kept a long list of ones they should.”
The Republican’s comments come as the CDC has faced a lot of backlash — particularly from conservatives — over its updated guidance, telling fully vaccinated Americans they should return to wearing masks, particularly if they are in areas deemed “high-risk” due to case number.
New mandates, to include the threat of further lockdowns, are coming from “petty tyrants and feckless bureaucrats,” Paul said. “We can simply say, ‘No, not again,’” he added in the three-and-a-half minute video.
The senator went on to call out House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) directly, condemning the idea of a vaccination mandate in the Capitol.

“Nancy Pelosi, you will not arrest or stop me or anyone on my staff from doing our jobs,” he said. “We have all either had COVID, had the vaccine, or been offered the vaccine. We will make our own health choices. We will not show you a passport. We will not wear a mask. We will not be forced into random screening and testing so you can continue your drunk-with-power right over the Capitol.”
Paul — who said in May he won’t get vaccinated at this point since he had already have COVID-19 — said he “can’t go anywhere” without people coming up to him and thanking him “for standing up for them” and “for stand up for action all science,” “freedom,” and “against mandates, lockdowns, and bureaucratic power grabs.”
While there were plenty who praised Paul for his video, there were others on the left who rebuked the lawmaker for his comments.
And to those posting a photo of Paul getting vaccinated, claiming it’s proof he took a COVID-19 inoculation: that’s actually a picture of the senator getting a hepatitis A booster shot.
