Not long after an MSNBC columnist compared pro-life Americans to the Taliban, network host Al Sharpton featured a guest on his show who likened those who oppose abortion to suicide bombers.

Civil rights attorney Jill Collen Jefferson argued that, although the right to abortion isn’t mentioned in the Constitution, “neither is the right to bear arms.”
“Having the right to an abortion is a constitutional right,” she told leftist activist Sharpton. “I found it really interesting that part of this argument is the argument that the right to an abortion is not explicitly listed in the Constitution. But, you know what? Neither is the right to bear arms.”
“The way that we interpret that law is the interpretation of a constitutional provision, the Second Amendment,” Jefferson added.
The counselor went on to compare pro-lifers to terrorists — an equivalency she drew in the wake of the suicide bomber attack in Kabul.
“What it reminds me of, quite honestly, is a suicide bomber,” she told the “PoliticsNation” host. “Someone who feels they have the right, the moral duty to mess up somebody else’s life for the greater good.”
Sharpton, it’s worth noting, didn’t push back at all.
Jefferson’s comments follow an MSNBC editorial by Dean Obeidallah, who argued the “Taliban aren’t the only ones trying to impose their will on women’s bodies and choices.”
“If the GOP wants to show that it is sincerely concerned with the rights of the women in Afghanistan,” he wrote, “it can start by first championing the human rights of women in the U.S. But instead, it is doing all it can to prevent gender equality while oppressing women based on its members’ extreme religious beliefs.”
