Jack Hibbs, pastor of Calvary Chapel Chino Hills in California, recently warned against what he sees as an increase in the percentage of pastors who are ill-equipped to speak about the end times.
Hibbs said during an Oct. 19 discussion about eschatology held at his church that preachers who refuse or decline to discuss prophecy actually fail to teach between 20% and 40% of Scripture, according to The Christian Post.
The pastor also noted how current events are potentially fulfillments of prophecy, but faith leaders with no knowledge of eschatology have virtually no idea how to process these happenings through a scriptural lens.

“Seminaries are cranking out ministers who will become pastors who’ve had no eschatology courses. It’s impossible to dodge that,” Hibbs said. “People are going to go pay $100,000 to go get their doctorate in theology and come out expected to become a pastor of a church and the world around them is being prophetic, if they like it or not.”
The pastor said some untrained faith leaders “don’t know what to say” about various real-time events and so they avoid the topic of biblical prophecy entirely.
“They avoid it because they have never been taught in the seminaries,” Hibbs said.

The preacher said this dynamic doesn’t make for a “good start” for those seeking to enter the pastoral realm.
“That’s not a good start,” he said. “Watch out where you’re going to seminary if you’re going. It’s sad.”
