Singer, actor and TV host Nick Cannon revealed on “The Nick Cannon Show” Tuesday that his 5-month-old baby, Zen, has died after suffering brain cancer.
“I have so much faith in the Lord. I have so much faith in God,” Cannon tearfully told his audience. “I prayed for the miracle of God’s strength.”
The host recounted how his son, who was born in June, started to experience what seemed like congestion. He and the child’s mother, Alyssa Scott, took the baby to the doctor for what they assumed would be a routine visit.
“We thought it would be a routine process, and we went in just to check his sinuses,” Cannon said, revealing the baby was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor.
“We were hoping for the best,” he said. “We were faithful and hopeful for that time.”
Watch Cannon’s heartbreaking announcement:
The TV host said Zen’s health began more rapidly deteriorating around Thanksgiving.
“Thanksgiving, we had an interesting turn and the process sped up and ultimately … it was cancer in the brain,” Cannon said. “And the tumor began to grow a lot faster.”
He said he held his son “for the last time” on Sunday.
Cannon said he “embraced every moment” with Zen and thanked the doctors, nurses, and his family members for the help and love they offered along the way.
Please pray for Cannon and his family as they cope with this tragic loss.
