Bryce Young, quarterback for the Alabama Crimson Tide, kept “first things first” during his Heisman Trophy acceptance speech in New York City on Saturday, giving credit first and foremost to Jesus.
“First of all, I’d like to thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,” Young said. “Without Him I couldn’t be here and through Him all things are possible.”
From there, Young thanked his parents for their love, kindness, and devotion.

“I’d like to thank my dad for always being there for me,” he said, thanking his father for being both a dad and his best friend. “From day one, you’ve always been by my side.”
Young also credited his mom for always “having [his] back” and supporting him along his football journey.
Watch the player openly praise Jesus:
Young’s Heisman Trophy win made headlines for a variety of reasons. First and foremost, he’s the first-ever Alabama quarterback to nab the prize; he’s the fourth Alabama player overall to capture a Heisman win.
Plus, he won by a large margin, taking 684 first-place votes; the runner-up — Aidan Hutchinson of Michigan — captured just 78 first-place votes, TuscaloosaNews.com reported.
God is great! Truly grateful for everyone who made this possible and for all the support I’ve received. All glory to God! pic.twitter.com/nsFozsuXwI

Young’s stats are impressive, as he has scored 43 touchdowns this season and has passed for 4,322 yards.
Congrats to Young! It’s inspiring to see people amid their greatest successes giving credit where credit is due: to the Lord.
