Brave police officers in Australia rushed to the scene of a car crash last month to rescue a couple trapped inside as flames raged — and it all unfolded just seconds before the car exploded.
The shocking situation took place March 12 on Southern Western Highway after a vehicle crashed and caught fire. That’s when cops with the Western Australian Police Force risked their lives to save others.

Probational Constable Reece Josemans, one of the officers on the scene, described the flames coming from the car as “unbearable” but said he and other officers were determined to get them out.
“I remember just making eye contact with the two occupants and at that point,” Josemans said of the couple trapped in the car. “I didn’t know how they were going to come out, but I knew that I had to find a way.”
The harrowing bodycam footage, released for the first time April 9, reveals the nail-biting scenes and shows how close of a call it was for everyone involved.
The Western Australian Police Force said the scenes in the video truly expose the “split-second decision-making that saved two lives.”
“I’m so glad to see you alive,” an officer is heard telling the victims after their rescue.

In a reflective video produced by police, Sgt. Wayne Byram said the car exploded seconds after the individuals were removed — and he described the blast as powerful and earth-shaking.
“It just shook the ground,” Bryam said. “It was so loud.”
Another officer commenting on the bodycam footage praised the bravery of those involved and said the heroism in the video would make any police officer proud.
“Those officers not only did their duty, but their actions were brave,” Inspector James Bradley said. “The only concern they had was the safety of those two victims.”
