Hollywood star Chris Pratt is drawing scorn from leftists on social media in the wake of the release of the first trailer of the Marvel Cinematic Universe flick “Thor: Love and Thunder.”
In the short clip, there is a funny moment after Star-Lord — played by Pratt — gives his team a pep talk, telling them that, whenever they feel lost, all they need to do is “look into the eyes of the people that you love.” At that point, Thor — played by Chris Hemsworth — stares awkwardly and intensely into Star-Lord’s eyes.
Many on social media were quick to note the fact Star-Lord, whose character name is Peter Quill, was depicted as bisexual in a 2020 installment of the “Guardians of the Galaxy” comic series, Entertainment Weekly reported.
Although Pratt has never divulged his views on sexuality or politics, he is often the subject of mean-spirited condemnation and mockery, presumably because he has been open about his Christian faith, which people use as a catalyst for all kinds of assumptions, including that Pratt may be anti-LGBT or politically conservative.

In 2019, actor Ellen Page — who is now transgender and identifies as a male named Elliot — condemned Pratt for attending Zoe Church in Los Angeles. The church’s lead pastor, Chad Veach, teaches a biblical view of sexuality and, as a result, Page sought to sideline Pratt for going to worship services at an “infamously anti-LGBTQ” church.
Pratt, for his part, responded by simply stating: “I go to a church that opens their doors to absolutely everyone.”
He has not once offered any specifics about his beliefs on politics or sexuality. The condemnation aimed at Pratt is based almost entirely on conjecture — seemingly for no other reason than that he is Christian.
That was certainly on display in the aftermath of the “Thor: Love and Thunder” trailer release:
Interestingly, even Forbes senior contributor Dani Di Placido seemed to unwittingly admit the condemnation of Pratt has no basis in anything other than unkind assumptions made simply because the 42-year-old actor is Christian.
Di Placido wrote in his article: “Pratt, who has never spoken publicly about his political beliefs, is widely considered to be socially conservative and possibly anti-LGBT, due to his allegiance to Zoe Church” (emphasis added).
Then, the writer concluded his piece with this: “Thor himself, actor Chris Hemsworth, remains beloved by Marvel fans, probably because he keeps his beliefs, religious or otherwise, to himself.”
Di Placido admits the public knows exactly the same amount of information about Hemsworth and Pratt’s views — nothing. And yet, assumptions about the latter are spun up routinely. The disparate treatment of the two Chrises seems to stem from one big difference: Pratt has openly spoken about his Christian faith.
