The shocking footage, captured April 11, shows the mother bravely dropping the toddlers out of a second-story window into the hands of Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department police officers, WABI-TV reported.
The video captured at the scene shows how quick-thinking and compassionate cops helped save lives.
“Wake people up. Get them out,” one cop can be heard telling residents at the apartment after he and other officers arrived at 3:39 a.m. to try and clear the building.
Not long after, the rescue effort kicked into gear once police realized the mom and her children were trapped inside.
“Please help me! Please sir, I can’t breathe,” the woman yelled from an upstairs window. “I have my kids here.”
As smoke billowed out of a doorway below, officers quickly assembled and asked the panicked mother to pass down her children. Once the kids were out the window and safe, the mom also successfully jumped to safety.
Watch the harrowing footage:
Cops reportedly comforted the family while medics checked on the children and mother. One of the officers told the kids they looked like superheroes as they bravely handled the difficult situation.
“You did so good. You guys are so brave,” an officer said. “One day, you are going to get to tell a story about how you jumped out of a two-story window…you looked like Spiderman.”
The fire started after a candle fell over and lit up a blanket. The inferno spread from there and displaced 20 people. Pray for those impacted by the tragic ordeal — and give thanks for the positive conclusion for this family.
