Search and rescue personnel in Rabun County, Georgia, say it’s “a miracle” a 17-year-old girl survived after falling about 50 feet off a cliff, lodging her body between rocks where two waterfalls meet.
What’s even more incredible is, when she was heroically rescued, the teen was able to walk away from the fall.

“In a miraculous turn of events, the female was able to walk assisted back out to the command post for evaluation and transport for minor injuries,” a spokesperson for the Gainesville Fire Department told WAGA-TV.
Chris Wright of the Rabun County Technical Rescue Team — one of the 17 agencies that responded to the girl’s fall at Raven Cliff Falls in Helen, Georgia — described the entire ordeal to Now Habersham as “a miracle worth sharing.”
The girl was reportedly trying to take a picture last Friday when she slipped and fell down the cliff, ultimately wedging herself from the chest down in a crevice between rock formations. Dozens of rescue agencies began responding to the incident at around 5:20 p.m. Friday
“It was an extremely challenging location to get to and required a lot of gear,” Wright told the local news site, which reported that a Georgia State Patrol helicopter was used to lower Cobb County members of the Georgia Search and Rescue team into the tricky space.
White County Fire and Emergency Management Agency Battalion Chief Josh Taylor said rescue personnel “worked tirelessly on freeing the lodged patient throughout the evening.”
Wright said the situation “looked grim” at the outset, but added, “Through grit and determination, a multi-agency team from all over the region pulled off a miracle.” All said, the harrowing rescue took roughly six hours to complete.
“While I played a very minor role in the overall rescue, there were two lessons I was reminded of: Don’t ever quit, don’t miss the blessing,” he later added. “To see the smile on her face — to know she had been given a new life — was priceless.”
A spokesperson for the Rabun County Search and Rescue agreed with Wright’s summation of the incident, describing the event as “absolutely a miracle,” crediting the “amazing work by everybody under extremely difficult conditions.”
Praise God the teenage girl walked away from the incident with only minor scapes and bruises.
