It was a fairytale proposal, until it wasn’t.
The Walt Disney Company has issued an official apology after a now-viral video showed a cast member at Disneyland Paris running between a woman and her soon-to-be fiancé, who had taken a knee, and swiping the ring box out of his hands before he could finish asking his girlfriend to marry him.

In the video, it appears the couple were standing on a platform right in front of the Sleeping Beauty castle — apparently in a place they were not supposed to be. Although, the boyfriend reportedly asked for, and received, permission to use the space, seemingly unbeknownst to the running cast member.
Needless to say, the cast member’s actions did not go over well online:
During the interaction, which was first shared to Reddit, the cast member snatched the ring and — after being told by the boyfriend that his girlfriend said “yes” to his proposal — told the couple, “Yes, that’s great, but over here, it’ll be even better.”
The Disney employee was met with a smattering of boos from the crowd gathered nearby. Internet users were also very critical of the staffer’s attitude, with some calling him out for his “smug” demeanor.
A spokesperson for Disney told Newsweek the company regrets how the situation was handled.
“We have apologized to the couple involved and offered to make it right,” the Disney representative added.
Disneyland Paris’ motto is “Where Magic Gets Real.” It seems that encounter didn’t live up to the hype.
