“When my job called me and told me, ‘Hey, you went viral,’ I’m like, ‘What?'” Crawford told WTVJ-TV. “I didn’t even think about the incident because it was something that, you know, was natural to me.”
In fact, she didn’t even know she was being recorded. But a driver saw the moment and captured it on camera; the video has since gone viral, inspiring people across the internet, to Crawford’s surprise.
Crawford, motivated by mere kindness, said she jumped into action after seeing the blind man and realizing he needed help getting across the street.
So, she asked her bus passengers if she could take a moment to help — and they all agreed.
Crawford told WTVJ-TV she would want someone to do the same for her and that it “was the right thing to do.” The man in the video was initially apprehensive but ended up accepting help and was grateful.
“He was saying, ‘You know, you [sic] an angel,'” Crawford recounted. “And that’s when I said, ‘You know what, if I was strong enough, I would carry you,’ and that’s what the video showed of us actually laughing.”
In a broken, tattered, and confused culture, acts like these inspire people to remember goodness.
