Little Morgan Logan of Mississippi suffers from dilated cardiomyopathy, a severe condition that can result in heart failure.
The baby has reportedly been hospitalized since May 22 as her family awaits the procedure.
“The disorder is caused by a mutated gene, which caused the bottom left ventricle of her heart to be enlarged and not functioning well,” mom Jasmine Logan told The Natchez Democrat.
Morgan already had surgery to receive a device to help her heart function. Despite being on a high priority list, the outlet noted it could take three to six months for the right fit for a new heart.
“The heart has to be perfect for her,” her mom said. “It has to be the right size and the right blood type.”
A GoFundMe crowdfunding effort has brought in over $6,500 to help Morgan and her parents; a $20,000 goal was set.
“Any monetary donations will be used to help with medical bills, gas, food, and any other expenses they may face,” a GoFundMe description reads. “We ask that you continue to keep their family in your prayers during this difficult time.”
Logan told The Natchez Democrat the family’s most significant needs are “prayers and financial support,” as they need help with transportation, medical costs, and food.
Please be praying for Morgan and the entire family — and visit the GoFundMe here.
