Stand-up comedian Jim Breuer — a former cast member of “Saturday Night Live” — is pointing others to God as his wife battles an aggressive cancer diagnosis.
Breuer, who has shared about his wife Dee’s conversion to Christianity, also opened up about his own faith journey during a recent episode of his show, “The Brueniverse Podcast.” The comedian said doctors told him and his wife there is “nothing” they can do because the cancer has spread “everywhere.”
“Your life as you know it changes like that,” he said of learning his wife’s diagnosis. “Your whole life flashes.”

The “SNL” alumnus said he immediately turned to a close friend, who asked him about his belief in God.
Breuer recalled his friend asking, “I know you’re spiritual and you believe in God, and your wife is deep into the Word of Jesus, and born-again, she found her faith many years ago. How does that affect that now?”
The friend went on to ask Breuer if he is “mad at God” over his wife’s five-year cancer battle.
“To be dead honest with you,” the comedian recalled answering, “not at all. If anything, I’m not mad at what I will not have. I’m not mad at what’s being taken away. I’m not mad about what I’m not going to have anymore, but I am so … blessed for what I had, and what I still have.”
He continued, “Do you know how many people never had the relationship I did and still have? Do you know how many incredible, lifesaving, emotional, deep-saving moments I’ve had with my wife, Dee?”
Breuer went on to say he is grateful to have three “beautiful” children with his wife and to have had such a rewarding relationship with Dee over the years.
“Start looking at the beauty right in front of you with yourself,” he encouraged. “I’ll never be mad at God. I cannot believe the beauty that surrounds me. I can’t believe the beauty that is given to me.”
While talking about his wife, Breuer recalled being by his father’s side when he passed away.
“I got to hold my dad to his last breath,” the comedian said. “Do you know what a blessing that is? I pray to God that everybody gets that opportunity. If you get the opportunity to hold someone to the end, do it.”
While it’s not clear exactly where Breuer is in his relationship with the Lord, it’s obvious his wife’s trust in God has had an impact on him. Over the years, the comedian has poked fun at his wife’s faith but has repeatedly said he has “no issues” with his wife’s trust in Jesus.
In 2020, Breuer talked with one of his daughters, Gabrielle, about whether she believes in God.
“I don’t see it as God — I just don’t,” she replied. “I don’t see, like, some big guy, person-thing in the sky kinda like guiding me. … I see it more as like a universal thing, like more of a — the universe will put things into your life and will make things happen to you that are necessary for where you will end up.”
Please pray for healing for Dee and for God to continue working through her to draw Breuer and their children to Himself.
