A pro-life teenager was allegedly attacked Sunday by an adult woman while going door-to-door attempting to gather support for a Tuesday vote to remove abortion from the Kansas state constitution.
Grace Hartsock, 18, was reportedly followed outside of a home by an angry resident who pushed her and purportedly hit her in the head with closed fists, Fox News reported.

Moments before the purported assault, Hartsock was initially met with a polite rebuff by a woman who answered the door at a home in Leawood, Kansas. Another woman allegedly came out from inside the home, though, and began yelling, following the student before the situation turned physical.
The attacker — purportedly the daughter of the woman who opened the door — allegedly told Hartsock she hopes she is raped and run over by a vehicle. Here’s a description from Students For Life:
The woman shoved Hartsock in the chest with both hands and began hitting her in the head with closed fists. Hartsock attempted to protect herself and leave while the resident’s mother told her daughter to stop the violence.
Hartsock told police that as she made it down the driveway to get distance from the irate pro-abortion supporter, the daughter threw a piece of food that hit her in the face, and she followed Hartsock down the street screaming curses and phrases such as, “I hope you get raped,” and “I hope you get run over by a car.”
Hartsock subsequently reported the incident to the Leewood Police Department, with officials telling The Christian Post Tuesday a 37-year-old woman was arrested, charged with misdemeanor battery, and released.
“The Leawood Police Department was contacted on Sunday by a subject. … She stated that she had been going door-to-door regarding the upcoming election,” a police statement read. “As she was walking away from an address in Leawood, she was struck by a female resident. The victim was not injured.”
Hartsock, though, has reportedly experienced pain and soreness since the alleged assault unfolded.
The end of the purported exchange was captured on video, though the alleged beating and other details were not recorded (caution: language):
“As reported to police, a grown woman took out her frustrations over abortion on a teenager who volunteered to let people know about the Kansas ballot initiative,” Students for Life Action President Kristan Hawkins said in a statement. “This brings abortion radicals’ ‘Summer of Rage’ close to home.”
Hawkins said young people won’t be silenced or gripped by fear. She also lambasted “radical pro-abortionists” who she believes “show no regard for life, inside or outside of the womb and no respect for the free speech rights of their fellow citizens.”
The incident unfolded as Kansans will decide Tuesday on the Value Them Both Amendment. If the pro-life effort passes, abortion will no longer be explicitly protected under the state constitution.
The legal back-and-forth in Kansas comes after a 2019 Kansas Supreme Court decision finding the state’s constitution affords abortion rights. If the amendment is approved Tuesday, the people’s will would void that 2019 ruling and Kansas abortion laws can then be changed.
Abortion is currently permitted in Kansas through 22 weeks of pregnancy.
