Terence Sessions was with his daughter, Jayla, Sunday at a local gas station when he noticed someone dropped a wallet in the road. Rather than ignore it or look the other way, Sessions took action.
“I turned around, ran into the road, and picked it up,” he told WMBF-TV.
Sessions could have gone back inside and left the wallet with an attendant in hopes the owner would come back to claim it, but he decided to teach his daughter a valuable life lesson: he wanted to bring the wallet directly back to its owner.
“You know, no matter what color you are, no matter what, just do the right thing,” he told the outlet. “There is one person looking down from above, so it’s always good to teach my daughter to do the right thing.”
Sessions and his daughter hopped in the car and went to the address he found inside the wallet to hand-deliver the missing item.
Sessions said he wanted to embark on a quest to teach his daughter to do what’s right.
“It was kind of like a life lesson,” Sessions said of his intentional act of kindness. “Since her mom passed away, I’ve just been trying to teach her little simple stuff to do when she gets older so she can stick with it when she’s not around me.”
The owner of the wallet was asleep when Sessions and his daughter came to the door but later posted a Facebook message expressing gratitude.
That message has caught a lot of attention and even sparked media stories, WMBF-TV reported.
Props to Sessions for going out of his way to teach his daughter what’s right — and it’s especially noteworthy because he acknowledges there’s a God who sees what we do (and don’t do).
