The bizarre situation unfolded at Noka Ramen in Oakland, California, Friday around 8 p.m., WLS-TV reported.
Witness Ploi Pirapoken, who was eating in the restaurant at the time, broke down the purported scenario in a now-viral Twitter thread.
“The craziest thing just happened at dinner,” she wrote. “I’m at a ramen shop owned by Thai people in Oakland dressed as Power Rangers, when a woman comes rushing in saying she wasn’t safe — and a man came running in after her and puts her in a chokehold.”

From there, Pirapoken described a chaotic scene. The victim reportedly told people in the restaurant she wasn’t safe and didn’t want to leave with the man.
Staff immediately jumped in to help, ushering her to safety.
The alleged abuser, who at one point purportedly started using anti-Asian slurs, reportedly swung at restaurant staff and attempted to fight them.
During the scuffle, Pirapoken said a restaurant worker dressed as the Yellow Ranger grabbed the man by the collar and dragged him out of the restaurant.
Eventually, the cops showed up, though staff and patrons were shaken and in tears.
Still, everyone was grateful for the kind help of patrons and restaurant workers alike.
“When something surprising breaks out, you’re not sure it’s real,” Pirapoken said of the incident.
Fortunately, the situation concluded without major incidents of violence.
The staff, who dress in Power Ranger outfits on Fridays based on themes in their menu, became real-life heroes, and are inspiring people across the U.S. with their kind actions.
