A journalist investigating the history and impact of the transgender movement believes what’s currently unfolding is “one of the worst child abuse medical scandals” and proclaimed he won’t stop until it ends.
Brandon Showalter, a journalist at The Christian Post and host of the new podcast, “Generation Indoctrination: Inside the Transgender Battle,” recently appeared on CBN’s “Faith vs. Culture,” where he shared his journey into covering this complex subject matter — and detailed his hope for change.

Showalter said he launched “Generation Indoctrination” to give a voice to experts whose critical commentary is often snuffed out by corporate media — doctors and specialists who are often shamed or disallowed from sharing their perspectives on the transgender movement.
The journalist said he first dove into the transgender debate after becoming a reporter in 2016 and encountering several hot-button issues. At first, he was cautious.
“I remember thinking, ‘Do I really [want to] write about this? I’ve just gotten started as a journalist,'” Showalter shared. “I started to do that Washington, D.C., hedging kind of thing, thinking about my career: ‘Is this gonna tarnish future opportunities?'”
But he said he felt God speak to him — and was compelled to speak out.
“As I start to mull around in my mind about all of that, I just as clear as day heard the Holy Spirit speak to me and say, ‘Are you ashamed of the Gospel?'” Showalter said. “And it was just that one little phrase. And then I remember thinking, ‘No, I’m not ashamed of the Gospel, Lord.’ And so then I just heard that still small voice say, ‘Then write the article.'”
Listen to Showalter discuss the transgender movement and his coverage of the issue:
Showalter’s initial work led him to then cover puberty blockers, drugs given to children who are gender confused to halt their natural puberty process. As he encountered more information, he became horrified by what he discovered.
“Something inside me snapped,” Showalter said. “I just could not believe that they were doing this to young kids.”
He continued, “I had no idea as to the scope, and certainly not that they were doing this to children in children’s hospitals.”
Showalter continued to investigate and report on the issue — and hasn’t looked back, with “Generation Indoctrination” serving as the latest example of his investigative work.
“I can’t stand seeing children be abused, and this is one of the worst child abuse medical scandals the world has ever seen,” he said. “And I will not stop until I see it end.”
Showalter said he is also driven by the reality that understanding and shedding light on these issues is “central to the furtherance of the Gospel and the advance of God’s kingdom,” pointing back to biblical truth to make his appeal.
“This is not a secondary or tertiary doctrinal matter,” he said. “You can’t get Genesis wrong without getting the whole Gospel wrong. It means something profound to be a human person. Our bodies themselves declare the Gospel, and so if we lose this ground, we’ve lost everything — and I’m just not willing to compromise.”
One of the challenges, of course, is breaking through the mainstream media narrative and reaching people who don’t necessarily believe the Bible to be true.
Showalter said it’s essential to use accurate language and adequately break down the issues at hand.
“The first step is to recognize the ideological underpinnings of what’s going on and refuse to participate in the linguistic manipulation,” he said. “We don’t employ ‘transgender woman,’ for example, because it eclipses the truth of biology. We will say ‘trans-identified,’ because it is an identity construct, not a sex.”
Showalter said he refuses to “lie about biology,” and believes these truths can go a long way in reaching people.
“Even if you don’t believe in God, science is science,” he said. “And so we refuse to use our very means of communication in service to a dogma that is untethered from material reality. That speaks volumes to a lot of people, whether they are Christian or not.”
Showalter takes this approach in “Generation Indoctrination,” with new episodes airing every Friday. Listen here.
