Moments later, that car crashed and flipped over, sparking an urgent quest to help the people inside. Regina Jones said she started recording the driver’s behavior moments before the terrifying collision.
“My husband had noticed this car swerving in and out of lanes. Then he said, ‘You better get your camera out, this guy is drunk,'” Jones told KTTV-TV. “I started filming, and all of a sudden, this happened.”
The dramatic incident occurred on the 10 Freeway in Rosemead, California, with Jones capturing the vehicle going up into the air and landing.
“You’ve got to help him!” she can be heard saying immediately after the wreck. “You’ve got to get out and help him … call 911!”
She added, “He’s got to be dead. That was terrible.”
Watch the shocking moments:
Jones’ husband got out to help and others pulled over as well. A man can be heard in the footage screaming for help from inside the vehicle as people attempted to turn the car over.
“There was a security guard with a baton, trying to break the glass,” Jones said. “There’s a lady down on her knees, a lady in a dress with one shoe on. It just got so surreal when you think about it.”
The group of heroes extracted the man and another individual identified in the video as his father.
The driver, who is reportedly assumed to have been under the influence, and the other passenger are expected to survive.
