A good Samaritan identified as Mr. Jackson told WDIV-TV he felt compelled to jump into action Saturday night to try and give the complete stranger a fighting chance after two cars collided and one burst into flames.
Jackson saw police and others trying to get inside the car as the inferno grew, so he stopped to selflessly offer help.
“They couldn’t do anything because he was so much on fire,” he told the outlet of the dire situation. “I instantly went to plan B … I went to get a fire extinguisher from the store.”
Jackson then started using the extinguisher to try and tame the flames and get the person out of the car. With the fire calming down, police got the victim out.
The hero then worked to try and stop the flames from further harming the man, though it was tragically too late; the victim later died.
Video captured the good Samaritan’s kind actions, and in a follow-up interview with WDIV-TV, he explained why he has no regrets about stepping in to help.
“I wanted to give him a fighting chance, because I knew if that was me, my son, father, daughter, or anybody, I’d want someone to do the same,” Jackson said. “So, I wasn’t just going to sit there and watch somebody be ablaze and say, ‘Its too late.'”
Jackson’s selflessness and kindness haven’t gone unnoticed. Please pray during this difficult time for the victim, his family, and Jackson and others who witnessed the tragedy.
