Chris Pratt offered insight into his own faith journey during a recent appearance on Drew Barrymore’s daytime talk show, using a metaphor from his own farm to share biblical truth.
Pratt, known for playing “Star-Lord” in Disney’s Marvel Cinematic Universe, told Barrymore about the goat kids just born on the farm he and his wife, Katherine Schwarzenegger, own in Washington State.

The baby goats — known as “kids” — are nearly two weeks old, he said. Pratt then explained to Barrymore the difference between sheep and goats, the former being completely dependent upon their shepherd while the latter are often very stubborn and difficult to rear.
The actor explained the sheep, who are timid by nature, were very fearful of an old car radio that had recently fallen out of a truck and into a field on Pratt’s farm; they stayed away from it, knowing it was a foreign object and not something their shepherd would lead them toward.
The goats, however, were so curious they would not only seek out the old stereo, but also try to eat it.
“Sheep and goats — they’re really different,” Pratt explained. “Like, a sheep just follows its shepherd. Goats, on the other hand, are really finicky and they’re stubborn, you know? They want to do it their way. They don’t trust the shepherd. They think that they’re gonna figure it out.”
“I love the metaphor for us relying on our own understanding in a way,” the movie star added, seemingly referring to Proverbs 3:5 as well as Matthew 25:31-46, when Jesus tells the parable of the sheep and the goats. “It’s like, ‘You know what? I got this. I’m gonna eat the car stereo. I’ll get back to you and let you know what it is.'”
He also talked about his now-wife Schwarzenegger, whom he met about six years ago and with whom he shares two children. Pratt, a Christian, said he met the eldest daughter of former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R) about six years ago during a church service.
Pratt said he was sitting in the front row during the service when he caught a glance of the now-33-year-old Schwarzenegger. While they didn’t immediately begin dating, it was soon after they met that the pair went out on a date, the actor recalled.
“You kind of don’t want to be like, ‘Whoa, who is that?’ at church, you know what I mean?” he joked to Barrymore about the first time he saw his now-wife. “But I was kind of sneaking some glances and I was like, ‘Who is that? Anyway, what am I doing? Come on, I’m broken, help me.'”
He and Schwarzenegger married in 2019.
“God has a fast-forward button,” Pratt said. “When it’s right — boom. You fall in love, you get married. Now we have two beautiful daughters to add to my family.”
Pratt, who voices Mario in the newly released “Super Mario Bros. Movie,” also talked briefly about his salvation journey.
“My own journey, finding a higher power and leaning on that and being like, ‘Please save me,’ and then feeling saved, and then shortly later finding the woman of my dreams,” he said.
Prior to his relationship with Schwarzenegger, Pratt was married to fellow actor Anna Faris, whom he divorced in 2018 and with whom he shares one child.
