“Please, urgent prayers needed for my husband,” Valerie Coleman wrote in a Facebook post. “The doctors wanted to remove him from life support tonight. I refused. He’s a fighter and his will is strong even if his body isn’t. God is our hope.”
Coleman is pushing to keep her husband, whose real name is Eldridge Wayne Coleman, on life support.
The wrestler’s wife also linked to a GoFundMe page to support her husband’s medical costs.
The latest update to the campaign page came in April, stating Coleman had been in the hospital or in a rehabilitation facility for four months.
“Due to ongoing issues from his lack of appetite, he has now lost 80 pounds and subsequently continues to struggle with extreme weakness,” read the April 26 update, going on to explain the pro wrestler has been suffering from an osteomyelitis infection in his ears, skull, and sinus cavity, leaving him “completely deaf.”
“We’re praying this is temporary, and will resolve as the infection is treated,” continued the statement. “He has intermittently also suffered with kidney issues, and been on dialysis. This in addition to Billy having heart and lung concerns, sores from being in bed for 4 months and depression.”
The statement went on to describe the financial burden Coleman’s treatment has placed on them as “dire,” because insurance will only cover a portion of his medical needs.
Additionally, Valerie Coleman has dealt with long-term health issues of her own in the wake of an infection with COVID-19, leaving her without an income to support them.
“Please help, and pray for the superstar to recover, and get back home where he belongs,” the statement concluded. “God Bless you all, thank you. He is in the fight of his life.”
To date, the GoFundMe campaign has raised more than $16,900.
