Hollywood star Josh Duhamel says he has moved back to his home state of North Dakota, because Tinseltown can “suck the soul out of you.”
The 50-year-old “Life As We Know It” actor said during a recent appearance on “In Depth With Graham Bensinger” that he never “really got comfortable with” the culture of Hollywood.

“It was just a lot,” he said. “I just missed the simplicity of who I really am. I’m just not a guy who is comfortable going to red carpets, doing all the Hollywood stuff. I don’t hate it; I’m better at it now than I was, but it just took me a long time to really feel like I fit in.”
Duhamel also said the star-studded life “can suck the soul out of you, if you’re not careful.”
“I find myself sometimes, when I’m there, that I need to find a healthy outlet to get my hands dirty, to do something that gives me some kind of purpose,” he said.
The celebrity blamed Hollywood for his divorce from longtime wife Fergie, to whom he was married from 2009 to 2019. They share one son, Axl, together.
Duhamel said he holds no negative feelings toward Fergie, whose real name is Stacy Ann Ferguson. But said he and his ex-wife dealt with the limelight in different ways.
“We had a great time, but I think we kind of just outgrew each other and had very different interests,” he said. “The older I got, the more I wanted to come back [to North Dakota] … [but] this is not for her. But I’ve got no hard feelings for it. I truly don’t.”
For his part, Duhamel has since remarried to former Miss World America Audra Mari. The two are soon expecting their first child.
