Planned Parenthood — the nation’s largest abortion provider — posted a sex education video in late January claiming virginity is a “completely made-up concept.”
The woman in the video, posted to the organization’s social media platforms, explains the word “virginity” was “created simply to control and shame people” and is discriminatory against those who do not identify as heterosexual.
Warning: The contents of the linked video — and subsequent quotes in this story — contain sensitive language that might not be suitable for younger readers.
She goes on to call virginity “whack,” because “sex means different things to different people.”
“But where does that definition leave queer people?” the woman asks, going on to explicitly discuss various forms of sexual engagement.
The woman in the Planned Parenthood promo video also argues there is a “double standard” when it comes to sex and virginity as it pertains to males and females. She explains, “Society can put pressure on men for not having sex at the exact same time that they shame women for having it.”

She encourages viewers to “throw away the notion of ‘losing your virginity'” and view it as “gaining” something instead.
Scripture makes it abundantly clear sex is intended to be enjoyed within certain perimeters. The Lord designed sex and wants His creation to engage in it, but only within the confines of marriage, a lifelong commitment between one man and one woman.
Prior to marriage, God calls human beings to abstain from sexual engagement.
The author of Hebrews writes, “Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous” (Hebrews 13:4-6, ESV).
And in the Song of Solomon, it’s written, “I adjure you, O daughters of Jerusalem, that you not stir up or awaken love until it pleases” (Song of Solomon 8:4, ESV), which means, as Christians, we ought not arouse sexual desire until it can be rightly fulfilled within the confines of marriage.
