“My mom died last night — unexpected,” Bongino said last Friday, becoming visibly emotional as he discussed her death. “She fell down a flight of stairs. And I found out earlier this morning.”
Pausing for moments to process his emotions, the radio host said he was notified about his mom’s death around 4:43 a.m. He was wide awake at the time because something “strange” had happened just an hour before, and he wanted to call his wife to tell her about it.
“For those of you who don’t believe in God, I’m not here to judge you,” Bongino said. “But I want to tell you something. I want to tell you in advance, I’m not crazy, OK?”
He then proceeded to explain around 3 a.m. — the very time he later found out his mother died — someone grabbed him.
“At 3 a.m. in the morning, someone grabbed me,” he said. “Like hugged me — like a mom.”
Bongino said he was wide awake at the time. Considering he often struggles to sleep, he had just gone to the kitchen to get water and returned to bed to try to fall asleep.
And that’s when the seemingly supernatural experience unfolded.
“It was real,” Bongino continued. “I’m telling you, it was real. I actually jumped up. I know it sounds crazy, but I was looking for my gun. And I started looking around the house.”
Once Bongino realized no one was in his home, the experience brought him peace, comfort, and pointed him toward God.
“I’m telling you, if you don’t believe in God and the afterlife, I would after last night,” Bongino said. “You’re free to believe whatever you want, obviously. … I’ve never believed more in the power of Jesus.”
